TUC Team Takes The Stage at NCRRRE 2024

From 13-15 August, TUC Team Members will have the privilege of participating in the 2024 National Conference for Regional, Rural and Remote Education (NCRRRE) to be held at Pacific Bay Resort, Coffs Harbour on Gumbaynggirr Country. The conference theme, “Growth Through Equity,” will resonate deeply with TUC’s mission to enhance learning and employment opportunities in the Mid Coast community by recognising and partnering with the rich knowledge, experiences, skills, and diversity of local communities.

The NCRRRE 2024 will bring together practitioners and researchers from Early Childhood, Schools, Vocational, and Tertiary Education sectors. The inclusive atmosphere will encourage first-time presenters and students to contribute, fostering a collaborative environment for policy discussions on regional, rural, and remote education.

Key objectives of the conference include challenging stakeholders to analyse current challenges and opportunities, recognising the significance of First Nations peoples, contributing to the global evidence base for enhancing regional education, and developing links with organisations and governments with similar professional aims.

TUC’s Contributions to NCRRRE 2024

Our CEO, Donna Ballard, will present at the RUSH workshop, discussing the development of the Community Connector and its alignment with TUC’s pillars of service. Her insights will highlight the importance of community engagement and the tangible impact of TUC’s initiatives on the local education landscape.

Additionally, Donna will provide valuable insights into the locally supported nursing model, emphasising the benefits of community-based nursing education and its positive outcomes for both students and local healthcare services.

Campus Coordinator Evan Weller and Education Student Support Officer Gemma Death will share reflections on the EduVenture program, a partnership with the Australian National University (ANU). This innovative research project explores the impact of engaging high school students from Year 8, encouraging early consideration of their future educational and career pathways.

Ben Archer, our Campus Careers Advisor, will present his research titled "Habitus in the Hallways, Skill Shortages in the Streets: Linking Student Aspirations with Vocational Outcomes in Regional Communities." His work will underscore the critical connection between student aspirations and the vocational opportunities available in regional areas.

The NCRRRE 2024 will be a remarkable platform for TUC to showcase our commitment to regional education and community development. The conference will underscore the strength of partnerships between education providers and local communities, highlighting the significant role of equity in fostering growth.

As we anticipate the success of the NCRRRE 2024, TUC remains dedicated to supporting the educational aspirations of our community, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to "Go Further, Close to Home."
