What is your professional background & experience?
I am a passionate educator worked in Primary Education for 15 years prior to relocating to the NSW Mid North Coast. I have experience across all grades in primary school and worked as a school executive for eight years.
I have completed a Bachelor of Education, Masters of Education, Graduate Certificate in Religious Education, Masters in Theology and a Graduate Certificate in Education (Career Development and Counselling). I feel like I have been studying for most of my career and would love to be able to give back and help those embarking on the challenge that study brings.
At TUC I work as the Education Student Support Officer, supporting students studying Education. I also offer academic support and study skills for all students.
Since 2023, I have been managing the EduVenture Project, a part of the wider EARUCP Research. This has allowed TUC to work with six local high schools supporting students in Years 8, 9 and 10 in building and growing their career aspirations.
What are you excited about bringing to our Campus?
Being teachers, we have a huge responsibility to the children in our care, every person brings with them their own needs and experiences and it is a such a challenge to differentiate learning to ensure every single child achieves success in their own way. I hope that I can assist education students by sharing my knowledge and experience to help produce more quality teachers for the area.
Working at TUC has shown me a way to use my knowledge and skillset beyond the classroom. Combining this with widening participation in our local high schools has led to an exciting opportunity to continue to work with young people and support them as they begin their career journey.
