Year 9 Students Explore University Life at Newcastle
Year 9 students from Chatham and Wingham High Schools had an exciting opportunity to experience university life firsthand during a visit to the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan Campus. The day was filled with exploration, inspiration, and a glimpse into the future possibilities of higher education. The students toured iconic locations like the Great Hall and the state-of-the-art library, gaining insight into the campus’s rich history and modern learning facilities. For some, a highlight was discovering the variety of food options available on campus, with Subway proving to be an unexpected favourite!
Student ambassadors played a key role, sharing personal experiences about their journeys through university. They spoke about the diverse fields of study, the supportive community, and how they’ve achieved a fulfilling balance between academic goals and a vibrant campus life. This immersive experience sparked curiosity and excitement in the students, showing them that university is more than just lectures and study. It’s a place to grow, explore passions when not studying, and build a bright future. By the end of the day, many students left inspired, imagining their own paths in higher education and seeing new possibilities for their futures close to home.
