Vice Chancellor Prof. Chris Moran's Visit to Taree Universities Campus from UNE
On Thursday 25 July, TUC was honoured to host Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Professor Chris Moran, on his recent visit to our campus. This visit marks an important milestone in the continued partnership that has flourished over the past three years, enabling TUC to strengthen its support for students across the MidCoast region.
Professor Moran’s visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the future direction of our partnership, with a particular focus on how we can collectively enhance the educational experience for our students. His deep understanding of the regional context in which we operate, coupled with his commitment to our shared goals, was evident throughout the discussions. The Vice-Chancellor’s insights into the unique challenges and opportunities faced by students in regional and remote areas reaffirmed his alignment with TUC’s mission to make higher education accessible without leaving one’s community.
Central to our discussions were key strategic priorities, including maintaining high student retention rates. We explored innovative ways to keep students engaged and motivated, recognising the importance of tailored support services and the fostering of a strong campus community. Professor Moran’s input will be instrumental as we continue to refine our approach to student support, ensuring that every learner at TUC has the resources and encouragement they need to succeed.
Another significant focus of the meeting was the importance of building stronger connections between education and local industry. We are particularly excited about the potential to expand our engagement with local businesses and employers, creating more opportunities for our students to transition smoothly from study to meaningful employment within the MidCoast region. These collaborations will not only benefit our students but also contribute to the vibrancy and economic development of our community.
As we look to the future, we are eager to continue these important conversations at the upcoming National Conference for Regional, Rural, and Remote Education (NCRRRE) in Coffs Harbour from 14-15 August. This event will provide further opportunities to deepen our partnership and explore new initiatives that support the educational and career aspirations of our students.
Taree Universities Campus remains committed to our purpose: to create learning and employment opportunities that enhance the vibrancy of the MidCoast community. Professor Moran’s visit has reinforced our shared vision, and we look forward to working together to achieve even greater outcomes for our students and the wider community.
