Food is not just fuel. Food is about family. Food is about community. Food is about identity. We nourish all those things when we eat.
— Michael Pollan

Join us at Tastes & Tales, a special event as part of Tastefest on the Manning River, where food and storytelling come together! Three MidCoast locals will share their heritage through their favourite family recipes, offering a delicious glimpse into the diverse cultures that call our region home.

This is more than just a tasting—it's a chance to celebrate inclusion, spark curiosity, and embrace the rich cultural tapestry of the MidCoast. Whether you’re here for the flavours or the stories behind them, we invite you to pull up a seat, share in the experience, and discover how education and community go hand in hand at Taree Universities Campus.

Come hungry, leave inspired!

Tastes & Tales + Taree Universities Campus

Tastes & Tales is an initiative by TUC to further strengthen the learning culture of the MidCoast region. Our mission is to build and support the higher educational aspirations of our young people. We can only achieve that through stronger, connected communities. As MidCoast is becoming home to families from diverse backgrounds, we aim to strengthen connections among cultures.

Tastes & Tales will showcase stories of food. Our families' recipes are rich with flavour, stories, and culture. We want to use a strength-based approach of using the expertise of our cultural communities to create avenues for them to engage with the broader community. Moreover, as we know, food can bring people together.

At this event MidCoast residents will present their family recipes and their special connections to the recipe. The audience will get the opportunity to listen to these narratives, connect with them and share their memories.

Through this creative project, we intend to create spaces for diverse cultures to come together and co-create a stronger community.
